Matthew Bryza held a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Georgia

Matthew Bryza, the Deputy Assistant U.S. Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs arrived in Tbilisi today and conducted a meeting with Davit Sikharulidze, the Minister of Defense of Georgia.

On behalf of the new U.S. administration Bryza expressed support to Georgia. The sides discussed the issues connected with the Charter on strategic partnership signed between the U.S. and Georgia in January 2009, prospective of cooperation in security sphere, and program of rendering aid to Georgia, its prospective of joining NATO, priorities of the Ministry of Defense and defense capacity fortification mechanisms.   

The meeting was attended by John Tefft, the U.S. ambassador to Georgia, Matthew Brand, the military attaché, Georgi Muchaidze, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia.
