Spy passion over Mikheil Saakashvili2013-04-26 13:12
Have the officers of State Protection Service tried to steal classified information from one of the servers of the administration of President Saakashvili? The head of the presidential administration Andro Barnov, who was appointed to the office just two days ago, said that the "outsiders" had penetrated to the room of the supervisor control system. State Protection Service states that its employees had been trying just to fix the phone line. Who are these "criminals," and what did they try to steal from the presidential administration?
Shortly after Andro Barnov was appointed the head of the Georgian presidential administration after serving as the governor of Shida Kartli, he uncovered a plot to steal secret information from the residence of President Saakashvili that was contained on a dedicated server. According to Barnov, two intruders infiltrated to the presidential residence, entered the room with the secret information and stayed there for 20 minutes. Barnov even convened a special press conference to acquaint the journalists with the details of the "operation."
"In the first half of the day on April 24, two unknown drove into the yard of the residence from the side designed only for the President, the Prime Minister and the Patriarch. State Protection Service handed these individuals the keys to the room with the server, even though they had no right to do that. Then the unknown broke into the room and stayed there for a few minutes. Once the staff of the presidential administration came up to these persons, they left the territory without explanation," said Barnov.
The head of the presidential administration emphasizes that security service that had allowed the "suspicious subjects" to the territory of residence is subjected to the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili. "We have a video of the incident and we will transfer it to the appropriate authorities with a request to sort out what is going on," Barnov told reporters. The head of administration emphasizes that the "suspects" stayed in the room for about 20 minutes, and could download the information from the network of the presidential administration.
State Protection Service confirms the fact that two employees of the service "visited" the residence, but their story is very different from the one told by Andro Barnov.
