Georgia's new government continues investigating illegal deals between Mikheil Saakashvili and foreign companies. Embezzlement of municipal property, the sale of significant objects - that's a short list of the sins of previous government. This time it is about the sale of National Cancer Center.

In Tbilisi there is a large Cancer Center. For some time it was considered the best in the Caucasus. Today it is in full decline. Entering the hospital yard you see a huge banner saying that the hospital was bought by a Canadian company specializing in research, development and production of anti-cancer medicines and products that improve health.

A deal between Georgia and Canadian "Canada pagasus parmaceptikal grup" was closed on November 19, 2010. As a result the President Mikheil Saakashvili handed over the whole territory with the yard and all buildings of the Cancer Center into the property of the new owners.

This year, the institute marks 80 years. There worked a lot of professionals. As soon as it was sold to the foreigners, 400 employees of the center were immediately dismissed.

No one knows when and why the government offered the Center for sale. Obviously, no public auction was conducted. We only know that its new owner is an ethnic Chinese residing in Canada.

In the agreement it is said that the medical profile of the facility will not change ... for 5 years. So, after this time the Cancer Center may turn into hotel or casino. Two and a half years have already past. Repair works were completed in May 2013, that means that this month the clinic should be put into operation. However, the only thing done so far is new doors and windows. Workers were seen here a few months ago. Patients are huddling in a small outhouse while the rest of the huge building is vacant.

During this period employees of the center created a "Cancer Center" owned by Rezo Gagua. Canadian company rented them out the outhouse for the symbolic sum of 1 GEL. So they take cancer patients there.

The hospital staff and medical experts do not understand why it was necessary to sell the Cancer Center that was known for its achievements and successes throughout the Caucasus. Ultimately, in the 21st century, the number of cancer patients is increasing, and the country needs such a hospital more than ever.
