Olympic non-serenity

2009-10-22 22:22 Parliamentarians are engaged in domestic propaganda, feeding the public opinion. In fact, it is only Georgia that can boycott the Olympics in Sochi. No one is going to support its appeal, especially after Tagliavini's report. In the opinion of the world community, the operation in Afghanistan held in the 80s and the situation with Abkhazia and South Ossetia are not one and the same thing. Of course, this is painful for Georgia but the world community is not ready to put the equal mark between the Afghan events and the August war.

However, the interlocutor leaves open the possibility that the situation in the Caucasus might be aggravated before 2014. This concerns both the North Caucasus and the Georgian-Russian relationship, thus, in the opinion of Nikoleishvili, the issue of the Olympic Games safety is going to be quite sensitive, anyway.
