Military Situation in the Middle East16.02.2012 | 19:17
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is peace-loving country that wants to be friends with the neighbors and all nations in the world. We do not commit violence and do not accept any acts of violence. But we also see the following: the United States are imposing their own rules and regulations on the other countries. One of their main goals is Iran, as well as its economic and cultural development". That is how the Ambassador Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi started his statement today.
According to the ambassador, Iran does not understand the nervousness of the European countries related to Iranian nuclear centrifuges. "Why Europe is so sensitive to this issue? The Iranian defense doctrine doesn't imply nuclear weapons. At the same time, we constantly hear that we would create it. They're predicting we'd create it from one year to ten years. They don't understand one thing: if Iran is working on nuclear weapons, why should it have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NNPT)?"
Sajjadi said that he was actively speaking on the Iranian nuclear threat to Israel. "We, in turn, regard Israel as a racist state that has forcibly seized the Palestinian territories. In Iran, we believe that the current Israeli regime is doomed to the fate of apartheid regime in South Africa. In Israel, they understand it, and therefore they are threatening Iran. Israel has threatened that would deal missile strikes at the Bushehr nuclear power plant and other Iranian nuclear facilities. Regarding Israel itself, they apply a double standard to it. Having an ally of Israel, the U.S. is able to control the Middle East and to overthrow regimes in the region independent from Washington. Anyway, the U.S. will cover and support Israeli regime, regardless of whether Israel is right or not. The whole world has become the witness of how the U.S. had repeatedly vetoed the international resolutions against Israel. Barack Obama is fighting for the rights of Jewish settlers in Palestine. Well, then why he did not say a word when Israeli bombs had destroyed 40,000 Palestinian civilians? America's policy brings only discord, separation and duplicity. Nothing more".
When asked by GTimes correspondent if the investigation into the murder of Iranian nuclear scientist Mustafa Roshan Ahmadi is making progress, the Iranian diplomat said that many factors were impeding the objective investigation of the case. "First, Israel refuses to talk with Iran on this issue. Mossad is one of the main suspects. It wasn't first time when Israeli security forces organize sabotage against Iran and Iranian scientists. Mustafa Ahmadi Roshan was not the first scientist, killed by Mossad. The IAEA could have helped the objective investigation of the case, but the organization does not make any contact with Iran. Mustafa Ahmadi Roshan met with IAEA inspectors in January and worked with them on drafting the final documents. Indications of these inspectors would have been valuable now more than ever. But the IAEA has given no answer. According to the Iranian people, this organization, as well as Israel, may well be behind the murder of Mustafa Ahmadi Roshan".
