Inhospitable Ahmeta18.04.2012 | 14:46
If you are an oppositionist, and especially if you bear a relation to "Georgian Dream", you better do not go to Georgian province. Even you are not its activist, it is enough to cooperate with the opposition to get problems. We'll show how it happens on an example of a small town of Ahmeta.
Zachariah Kiknadze is the head of regional branch of "Georgian Dream". Membership of the opposition party has already cost him dearly. More recently, Zachariah was considered a prosperous farmer. But by a strange coincidence, after he joined the "Georgian Dream", he got problems. Last month, at the height of planting season, he ceases to be a farmer - unknown persons burned two acres of apple orchard, half a hectare of nut trees, vineyards and rabbit farm.
But Zachariah was not discouraged. He's engaged in party building. But it is also unsafe. Technical staff, which was supposed to repair the office of the "Georgian Dream", came to the town. First of all, the group was looking for a temporary stay hotel. But it is not so easy to find a hotel in Ahmeta. Fortunately, there are many private, family-run hotels that are happy to receive guests.
First, Zachariah decided to settle them in the house of Gocha Petviashvili. Previously, he worked in the economic part of police of Akhmeta. He was not police detective; but having learned that those people came to repair the office of the opposition, he refused them, citing the fact that all his rooms were occupied. But then he offered to settle them in the neighborhood. Builders have successfully settled there.
Zachariah left them and went away. When the masters sat down to supper the owner and said they were to immediately release the room. Masters asked for ten minutes, to finish the dinner. The owner did not even bother to listen to them and ordered the immediate release of the room. He drove them away. It turned out that having learned that they had come to repair the office of the opposition, the owner of the hotel decided not to make problems for himself.
Meanwhile, night was falling, rain started. The builders started calling Zechariah, who immediately came, but he brought a "tail." He was followed by several cars. Kiknadze decided to settle them secretly, so that the police would not learn about it. But the "tail" of a few machines continued to follow Kiknadze's car not really hiding.
Their numbers are known: one car was "Subaru" № EBL-001, the other - a police car №699, the third - the car of the chief of police, "Skoda" № 296. These three cars were shadowing them, without losing sight of them.
In short, Zacharia divided the builders into several groups in order to cover their tracks, and eventually brought them to the conspiratorial place. Zachariah invited the masters to sleep in his place, but they flatly refused. Masters were brave guys. The next day they went to work.
Gia Odishvili. Master:
"It was about 8 pm when we were escorted out. First, this man treated us with care. As soon as we sat down to supper, he came and told us to immediately leave. It was evident that his family was threatened. The owner said he did not know that the team had come to repair the office of "Georgian Dream", otherwise he would not let us to live in his place. Thus we found ourselves under the open sky".
Ahmeta, above which there is now legendary Pankisi Gorge, is a very hospitable city. There is no mass tourism, and people are not spoiled by a lot of money. But if you bear relation with the opposition, you better don't go there.
