The meeting was held behind the closed doors in Tbilisi Marriott hotel last evening.
After the meeting with the diplomats, Levan Gachechiladze, the United Opposition leader, on behalf of the action's organizers repeated that the dialog between the authorities and the opposition can be held on one issue only: the resignation of Mikheil Saakashvili. "We repeatedly claimed that the dialog is possible in the live air only and in the one case: if Saakashvili considers the demand of the people and resigns. It is not a dialog with every single opposition member. It is the dialog with the Georgian people", Gachechiladze said.
Commenting the aspect that representatives of the authorities and leading TV companies call the action organizers the radical opposition, Gachechildze said: "There is no more radical person in Georgia than Mikheil Saakashvili". "We are not the radical opposition. We are the adequate opposition. Adequate to the circumstances caused by the President's actions, since august and up to the present day", stated Nino Burjanadze, the ex-Speaker of the parliament, the leader of the Democratic Movement- United Georgia.
"I agree with the Patriarch of All Georgia on the aspect that people must listen to each other. The obligation of the authorities is to listen to their people, the demand of which will be voiced loudly on April 9th ", Burjanadze stated.
The action organizers agreed to cooperate with law enforcement structures representatives to ensure order and avoid possible provocations. "The society is ready to such actions to the extent it will not allow any incidents. Besides, we take additional measures" , said Irakli Alasania, the ex-Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN, the Alliance for Georgia leader. He believes that the resources for dialog are never exhausted. "I am sure that when the people express its will on April 9th , and this will appear to be large-scale and persistent, and the President considers this will, and if he has real proposals to start negotiations with his people, the dialog is possible", he said and added that the "proposals made so far are inadequate to the existing political crisis" .
The Alliance representative, the New Rights' leader, David Gamkrelidze said that there is no relevant agreement with police, but the opposition hopes for the mutual understanding. "They are citizens of Georgia. In the course of the history of Georgia they repeatedly demonstrated that in the critical moments they are by the people", Gamkrelidze said.
