Saakashvili held a meeting with Interplast plant workers2009-04-23 17:30
Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia, today held a meeting with Interplast plant workers. The plant is located in the outskirt of Tbilisi, in Lilo village. The meeting hadn't been announced beforehand but was broadcasted live in Rustavi 2 air.gt-en-newsitem-inside
Mikheil Saakashvili touched upon the traditional topics of unemployment, struggle with poverty and corruption, creation of working places, political stability in the country.
"This plant is an example for the entire economy of Georgia, in all aspects. It was established two years ago, and over this time hasn't stopped caring about expansion of manufacture and innovations introduction. You have what thousands of Georgians dream of - job, and today it is happiness", the President said.
According to Saakashvili, the main objective of the government of Georgia is creating opportunities for employment, development of private sector, and creation of working places.
Therefore he underlined the importance of struggle with corruption, which, as he said, had never stopped.
"Don't let anyone has illusions that we will slacken or stop this struggle. We will strive with criminal clans and groups. Owing to this struggle we managed to increase budget more than12-fold. That is why we can build new roads, pay pensions and salaries in time", he added.
The Georgian leader highlighted the importance of intensification of the dialog between the government and business in order to let the government learn more of the problems of business and assist in their solution. He also underlined the necessity of establishment of strong and just court in the country.
"There are some flaws in our judicial system, and they must be eliminated. We are already working on it. The reform of the judicial system is being conducted; it implies the introduction of the jury institution. It is a big experiment necessary for development of the just court", the President claimed.
He said nothing of the protest action the opposition stages, but mentioned that peace and stability in the country are required to achieve the aims the government set.
"I call for all the politicians to place interest of the state above the own interests and ambitions... We need unity and joint struggle with our main internal enemies, and these enemies are poverty and unemployment", Saakashvili underlined.
