MIA of Georgia accuses Georgi Gachechiladze in provoking the clash with the police

Georgian MIA accuses Georgi Gachechiladze [Georgian singer aka Utsnobi, brother of opposition leader Levan Gachechiladze] in provoking the clash near the police office building - RIA Novosti.


According to the MIA, 29 people were taken to hospitals [22 protesters, 1 journalist, 6 policemen]. Opposition claims of the 60 aggrieved, including leaders of several parties. MIA accused opposition in the incident stating that "the police was defending the building". "Protest participants, who gathered near the Parliament building before the incident, were provoked by opposition leader Georgi Gachechiladze to attack the police office. Gachechiladze claimed that the aim of the action is release of the three opposition activists, detained on May 5th over beating a journalist. Gachechiladze headed the march of the protest action participants from the Parliament building to the police office. On arrival he climbed over the fence, surrounding the police building, and broke into the perimeter", the MIA statement, spread today, claims.
