Azerbaijan to supply Georgia with gas for 5 years

Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia, said that Georgia will receive gas from Azerbaijan - RIA Novosti. This agreement was reached at negotiations of Saakashvili and his Azerbaijanian counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, held on May 20 in Baku, the Georgian President's statement for press claims.


Now Georgia receives a significant part of gas from Russia, the relations with which deteriorated after August events.

Saakashvili mentioned the significance of the projects implemented by the two states in the energy and transport sectors and expressed confidence in further expansion of the ties. "We are implementing strategic project", he said.

Saakashvili mentioned today he departs for Batumi on occasion of the Baku-Batumi flights establishment. "In nearest future the implementation of a big construction project starts in that city. It is the result of the developing cooperation between our peoples and countries", he said. The President of Georgia mentioned that the basis of the relations between the two countries was established by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and highlighted that President Ilham Aliyev successfully prolongs the cooperation. - Azer Tac.
