Georgia’s ex PM to Meet with Officials in Moscow

2009-11-20 16:44

On November 22 Georgia's ex PM, now opposition For Fair Georgia leader Zurab Nogaideli is coming to Moscow on a 4-day working visit.

Today the details of his trip have been reported, VZGLYAD informs.

Nogaideli says he plans to "focus on meetings with Russian officials and representatives of the Georgian diaspora" not specifying though who exactly he will negotiate with.

It will be remembered that during his recent trip to the Russian capital (October 25-28) Georgia's ex PM met with Secretary of State - Russian Deputy FM Grigory Karasin. He stated then that Russia's role in conflict settlement in Transcaucasia can't raise any doubts.

Nogaideli underscored the importance of talks with the RF that must be started without any preconditions or ultimatums.

According to him it's most important to restore relations with Moscow first in order to resume dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

  • Journalist demarche 2010-03-20 00:30 Journalist demarche Georgia is again in distress - now over mass media. There have been no new fake stories on Georgian TV – apparently due to reproaches from the international community, but a Georgian journalist dared to spoil the reputation of “the beacon of democracy” seeking political asylum for his family to escape threats from authorities.

Imedi chronics: a trial over the madmen 2010-03-19 17:16 The authors of the TV piece about the attack that caused panic throughout the country should be put either to prison, or to an asylum. The Georgian opposition assumed the role of claimants and is preparing a petition to the court addressing Director General of the Imedi company Georgiy Arveladze, as well as President of the country Mikhail Saakashvili.

  • “Away with the president” peacefully
The Georgian opposition seems to live according to a cyclic people’s calendar. In spring, the calendar orders to demand early resignation of the country’s government and the new presidential and parliamentarian elections. The government provides enough reasons for that. Imedi’s scandalous broadcast about Russia’s attack against Georgia became the last straw in this season. Several parties that have consolidated around Zurab Nogaideli into National Council speak for the peaceful change of the government.
