Washington to assist post-Soviet republics to get rid of armaments

The U.S. Congress allocates USD 424 million as aid for former USSR republics for elimination of nuclear, chemical and biological armaments -


According to Mark Hayes, the representative of Senator Richard Lugar, the sum has already been included in Pentagon budget 2010, Barack Obama signed the bill on defense expenditures this Monday.

The document implies no less than USD 15 mln for dismantling nuclear submarines and components of nuclear reactors of submarines.

Russia was also included in the list.

Earlier today Voevoda ballistic intercontinental missile was launched in Orenburg region and successfully hit the targets in Kamchatka. Voevoda is the heaviest ballistic intercontinental missile in its class, added to the USSR armoury in 1970s-1980s.
