Holbrooke to visit Georgia

Richard Holbrooke, the U.S. special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan will visit Georgia on February 21st- 22nd - Novosti-Gruzia, citing to the U.S. embassy press service.


In the course of the visit Holbrook will meet with President Saakashvili, be acquainted with the living conditions of Georgian soldiers in the National military training center in Krtsanisi and the course of their training for international operation in Afghanistan.

Previously Nino Kalandadze, the deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, mentioned the importance of that visit for the country, since it once again highlights the significance of Georgia's participation in ISAF operation in Afghanistan.

Currently a company of Georgian military is serving there, in the France's responsibility area. In spring 2010 a battalion will join and will serve with the U.S. contingent. The two units comprise about 700 servicemen.
