Georgian Interior Ministry: restoration of Bagrationi dynasty was a project of Primakov
Russia by all means tries to find own candidate for shifting power in Georgia, stated Interior Minister of the latter, Vano Merabishvili in his interview to Kommersant.
He explained that since the ex-chief of foreign intelligence and Tbilisi origin Evgheniy Primakov was appointed responsible for Georgian direction, a number of projects have appeared.
"First it was Giorgadze, then Ebralidze, then Noghaideli and now Burjanadze. But we aren't afraid as the government has a high rating - 64 per cent," he said.
He also called the idea of restoration of Bagrationi dynasty a "Russian project."
"After appointment of Primakov to our direction, the idea of restoration of Bagrationi dynasty appeared immediately, and with this aim the representative of the dynasty was forced to marry urgently, and the bride was forced to divorce her husband. But the project didn't justify itself and the idea failed as well as Bagrationi marriage," Merabishvili said.
He believes all these projects are doomed to fail, as the Georgian population supports the government.
Yet the Minister refused to comment the direct dialog between the Orthodox Churches of Georgia and Russia, and mentioned that "only ecclesiastical ties" can exist between them.
