Saakashvili thinks about repeating Putin’s way

2010-06-08 14:46

Mikheil Saakashvili, the present-day head of Georgia, doesn't rule out possibility of occupying Prime Minister's position after expiration of his presidential term.

In the interview to Le Monde he said he thought much about this opportunity, but much remains unclear.

When asked whether he'd like to become the PM "like Vladimir Putin", the Georgian leader responded "Putin is Putin..." and explained he's now attracted by freedom and ability to walk around the city without bodyguards.

Saakashvili admitted he doesn't know what his steps in politics will be after 2013, as "decision will depend on many factors": economic situation, status of the constitutional reform, own mood and political rating.

Nevertheless, Saakashvili said his primary aim is continuation of reforms in Georgia. "I have created a party which will outlive me. In my political practice, I realized that reforms seriously expend previously acquired popularity. In the end, nobody loves you, but then people are still grateful for your work. One ensues the other," he shared.
