No more corrida in Catalonia
Catalonian parliamentarians banned corrida - Interfax.
The reason was the petition, issued by animal protectors and signed by 180 000 Cataloniand. 68 parliamentarians voted for prohibition of corrida, 55 were against, 9 abstained.
The preliminary voting was held in December 2009 in the parliament of Catalonia, and even this time deputies endorsed the petition.
Corrida will be fully prohibited in the region since January 1st 2012, when the new law will be valid. Catalonia will be the first part in continental part of Spain to do it. For the first time bull fights were banned in the Canary Islands in 1991.
