USA continues blockade of Cuba
Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, the deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, claimed that blockade of the island by the USA remains - RIA Novosti.
It was her reaction to the extension of trade embargo against Cuba, conducted by the U.S. authorities last week.
Gonzalez arrived in Russia with a working visit on Sunday, and yesterday negotiated with Russian Foreign Ministry officials.
Extension of embargo logically continues a nearly 50-year long practice of American authorities. In 1961 the USA introduced sanctions against Cuba after the failed operation on toppling Fidel Castro's government. Among the measures there were sanctions against foreign companies conducting trade activities with the island. Now the due law is currently suspended.
Cuba sees American embargo as act of genocide of Cuba's people.
