Yesterday a drug-addict priest was detained at the border of Russia and Kazakhstan - GHN.
Clergy say he no longer has something in common with local church.
"Hieromonk Serapion (Alexander Genadiyevich Khripkov) arrived in South Ossetia from Uzbekistan, from Chirchik monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church right after combat events of August 2008. In May 2010 hieromonk Serapion was removed from the position of the vicar of Tir monastery of Alania eparchy, banned in service and with letter missive left Alania eparchy, i.e. Republic of South Ossetia. Hieromonk Serapion since that time has no relation to the Alania Eparchy of South Osssetia."
He was detained at Zhana Zhol customs post in north Kazakhstan, when a dog felt the smellof drugs coming from him.
