Brichambaut abstained from term “occupation”
Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, OSCE Secretary General, abstained from use of "occupation of Georgian territories" term - Trend.
In the exclusive interview to Rustavi-2 he explained he couldn't use this phrase as being OSCE Secretary General, he must consider positions of all members.
He added that a very serious discord between OSCE member countries exists because of the situation in conflict areas. He said the organistation tries to protect interests of all residents of Georgia.
Brichambaut also commented on the installation of S-300 missile defense complexes in Abkhazia. He said it's always bad when arms accumulation or unilateral modernization occurs in the situation when the process of conflict settlement between the countries goes on in a very complicated way.
Russia recognized independency of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on August 26th 2008. It was preceded by the entrance of Georgian troops in South Ossetia on August 8th.
In result the capital of South Ossetia Tskhinval was nearly totally ruined, over 200 civilians and peacemakers were killed. In its turn, Russia conducted operation on peace enforcement and defense of Russian citizens.
