Ex-deputy Minister of healthcare of Georgia arrested
Prosecutor General's office detained Nikoloz Pruidze, the ex-deputy Minister of Healthcare - GHN.
This arrest was based on the materials of the Chamber of Control over the case of GEL 1,7 mln [USD 920 000] embezzlement in the framework of immunization program.
The Chamber of Control states that in 2009 two firms - GPC and En-firma participated in tender for purchasing measles, German measles and mumps vaccine; the latter won even though GPC offered better terms.
En-firma purchased less portions of vaccine, which also had shorter shelf time, and in this way state expenditures were artificially increased.
