India supports Russian policy in the Caucasus

India supports the role of Russia in ensuring security in the Caucasus, states the Russian-Indian declaration, adopted by Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev and Indian Prime-Minister, Manmohan Singh, today in New-Delhi, RIA-Novosti informs.


In the light of the recent conflict in South Ossetia, Russia and India welcome the principles of the Caucasus conflict settlement elaborated by President Medvedev and French President Nicholas Sarcozy, and hope that the taken steps will lead to peace and stability in the region. India supports the important role of the Russian Federation in peace ensuring and cooperation in the Caucasus, the declaration says.
