Georgian MPs voted for “Premier’s”Constitution
Today Georgian parliamentarians passed the draft Constitution in the first reading.
123 voted for; 4 - against - Trend.
Zurab Adeishvili, the Minister of Justice, introduced the draft and said it would significantly reinforce the role of the Parliament and would provide the necessary balance between branches of power.
Opposition criticized the new draft Constitution. In particular, the Labour party addressed the UN GA with a protest against the amendments, actually turning Georgia into a parliamentary republic.
