Milk crisis threatens Georgia
Prices for dairy products in Georgian stores skyrocketed.
Cottage cheese, kefir, milk itself, and all other milk-based products increased in price by at least 10% - Dairynews.ru.
No reasons for it are named.
Previously Eduard Shevardnadze, the ex-president of Georgia, commented on the growing prices for bread and said the country was on the verge of 'hungry" revolution.
"The increase of price for bread is catastrophic. The government must stop it, otherwise famine can start. When people have no money for bread, revolutions occur," he said.
The ex-head of state added Georgia already has catastrophic situations with unemployment and foreign debt [over USD 7 bn].
In early September Nestan Kirtadze, the International Secretary of the Labour party of Georgia, reported that according to the UN data, about 2 mln of Georgians are on the verge of famine.
