Opposition urges to save soldiers in Afghanistan
Nestan Kirtadze, the International Secretary of the Labour party of Georgia, claimed that opposition demands to recall the Georgian peacemaking contingent from Afghanistan.
She underlined that no-one can ensure security of Georgian soldiers in their service in Afghanistan - NEWS.am. "Our protest would be sent to NATO Secretary General, and before the Lisbon Summit - to all the Alliance members - to revise the participation of disintegrated as the state and territorially disunited Georgia in this mission," Kirtadze said.
By the present day 5 Georgian peacemakers were killed in Afghanistan, all blown up by mines. One more was seriously wounded and lost both legs.
Georgia addressed the UN with an offer to send its contingent into Afghanistan in June 2007, it was endorsed at the Bucharest Summit in April 2008.
