Ukraine renounced membership in the EU
Today Ukrainian parliamentarians discussed the possible membership of the country in the EU and renounced this prospect - the VZGLYAD.
Only 61 out of 302 voted for the draft On Submitting Application for Membership in the European Union. Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc fraction again left the chamber as a protest.
The draft was added to agenda by Mykola Katerinchuk. It implied "obliging the president of Ukraine to organize managing the foreign political activities of the state with the aim of the soonest submission of application for membership to the EU in the terms, defined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the European Union." It also concerned the European integration of Ukraine, up to gaining full membership.
