Now Gilauri is for Georgia’s joining WTO
Georgia is a supporter of Russia's joining various organisations, including WTO - Novosti-Gruzia. It was voiced by PM Nika Gilauri, in the Atlantic Council of the USA. He apparently changed his mind.
For this Russia must implement principles of these organisations, the PM added but didn't specify why - for joining or acquiring Georgia's agreement.
He said Georgia wants Russia to become WTO member, and hails all the organisations membership in which will "turn Russia into a more civilized state," the PM said.
"We support Russia's membership to WTO, but with one condition, that all the rules of WTO should be followed and part of the rules of WTO is that customs checkpoints between two countries must be transparent. Unfortunately, right now because of occupied territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia these two customs checkpoints [one in Abkhazia and another one in South Ossetia] are not transparent and we are requesting only one thing and this [condition] is to follow WTO rules," he said, Civil.ge reports.
