Sochi Olympics stuck in Gilauri’s throat
Nikoloz Gilauri, the PM of Georgia, delivered a speech in the Atlantic Council of the USA, and paid attention to the harm the preparations for Olympics-2014 allegedly makes to ecology of Georgia - Novosti-Gruzia.
Besides, he felt resentful that "occupants" are preparing for a peaceful event.
"We are concerned about two things - holding Olympic Games in the country that occupies territories of Georgia and environmental protection. Russia is destroying environment on the territory of Abkhazia by the works taking place in Sochi," Gilauri noted.
He said new constructions in Abkhzia ruin local infrastructure and environment.
Gilauri also highlighted inert masses are taken from deltas of Abkhazian rivers. Then they are sent to Russia for construction of Olympic infrastructure. In the view of Gilauri, it crease a threat of ecologic catastrophe in the region f Caucasus and Black Sea.
In September, at the UN GA sitting, Mikheil Saakashvili touched upon the same topic and asked the world community to influence the situation in the region. He admitted the government of Georgia had no opportunity to interfere.
