Georgia will start a war against Afghanistan – Shevardnadze’s prediction
Eduard Shevardndze, the ex-president of Georgia and the ex-Foreign Minister of the USSR voiced his prediction about the global politics, role and place of Georgia and Russia in it - the VZGLYAD.
In his view, Russia has a great weight in global community, many European countries consider its desires.
"Only good-neighbourly and partner relations one should have with Russia, and all the Europe and NATO realized it," - he said. - "Europe, NATO, Georgia - all need relations with Russia".
If Georgia received guarantees of joining NATO, Russia will raise an issue of final separation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the republic.
"Georgia must not agree, otherwise it will lose Abkhazia and South Ossetia forever," he said. Shevardnadze noted that though Hillary Clinton, the U.S. Secretary of State, supported Georgia's territorial integrity, she added not everyone in NATO agree with her, and the issue of independency of Abkhazia and South Ossetia provokes much discord in the bloc.
In his interview to Asaval-Dasavali Shevardnadze stated Georgia must withdraw its contingent from Afghanistan, and renounce possible transit of military cargoes across via its territory.
"This will be in fact a war with Afghanistan," he said.
