Venice Commission asks Tbilisi to wait
The Venice Commission intends to consider the constitutional situation in Georgia at the 84th plenary session on October 15th-14th.
"The Commission is invited to hold an exchange of views with Mr Akaki Minashvili and Mr Pavle Kublashvili, Parliament of Georgia and to examine, with a view to adoption the draft opinion on the draft constitutional law on changes and amendments to the Constitution of Georgia drawn up on the basis of comments by Mr Bartole, Ms Nussberger, Messrs Scholsem and Sorensen," the agenda of the session says.
At the same session the Commission intends to discuss issues connected with the Constitution of Ukraine, and the freedom of assemblies in Serbia - Novosti-Gruzia.
Previously they asked the Parliament of Georgia to wait for assessments of European experts and adopt the document after their publication. The assessments must be ready to end October.
Yet the Parliament started the third [and final] reading, disregard that request.
The voting was planned for Tuesday, but was postponed to end of the week. Opposition is given time to get acquainted with the amendments.
