2010-10-19 18:29

8977.jpegDimitri Shashkin, the Minister of Education of Georgia, now staying in Yerevan, claimed that resistance of Armenians from Javakh region helped to stop advance of Russian troops in 2008.

Javakh diaspora commented to Georgia Times and disclaimed his statement.

"When leaving Khashuri town the group of Russian military was mistaken and drove in Borjomi Gorge direction. When leaving the gorge, Russian military saw cars and people, stopped and asked "what territory is it," and then all Georgians shouted "that's Armenia, guys." In this way Russian military understood they took the wrong way, turned and drove back in Gori direction," Armenians of Javakh say.

The Minister of Defense is visiting Armenia in regard of opening a Georgian linguistic center in one of the universities in Yerevan.
