Opposition accuses new Constitution of illegitimacy
Kakha Kukava, one of the leaders of the pro-opposition Conservative party, said methods used in adoption of the new Constitution, couldn't allow consider it legitimate.
"I think the main political drawback of this Constitution is the way it was adopted. It's not a legitimate act of the Constitution. It can be called amendments to the rules of the governing party. It worked out this document for itself inside itself and itself voted for it," he said - Osinform.
He highlighted the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission asked the Parliament not to adopt the Constitution in this form. "The people of Georgia doesn't accept this document as the main regulating document of political life of Georgia", Kukava said.
In his recent interview to French journalists Mikheil Saakashvili gave a high assessment to the amendments.
The country received a balanced Constitution, reinforcing the role of the Parliament, and it's a positive thing in every society, he said.
