Luger was awarded IOC order posthumously

Nodar Kumaritashvili, the Georgian luger, killed hours before winter Olympics-2010 in Vancouver, was awarded the top Olympic order.
IOC members will present it to his family in Bakuriani .
The ceremony will be attended by Lado Vardzelashvili, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, and Gia Natsvlishvili, President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia - Interpressnews.
On behalf of IOC President Jacques Rogge, the order will be presented to his family members by Pamela Vipond, Deputy Director of Olympic Solidarity, Josef Fendt, President of the International Luge Federation and the organization's Vice President Harald Steyrer - Trend.
21-year old Nodar Kumaritashvili was killed in a crash while training in Whistler. The death was reported to be caused by his own mistake. Nevertheless, the construction of the track was changed.
