The new head of the EU delegation is Philip Dimitrov, a well-known Bulgarian politician, former head of Democratic Powers Union and Prime Minister of Bulgaria in 1979. Dimitrov was several times elected deputy of the People's Assembly of Bulgaria.

Dimitrov superseded Ambassador Per Eklund who headed EU's Tbilisi Department since 2006 and left Georgia in October.

After the new head of EU delegation handed the credentials, a meeting was held to discuss the current issues of Georgia and European Union's cooperation.
