According to UNIAN, Baramidze underlined in his interview to Expert Ukraine that cooperation between Georgian and Ukraine has got significant potential in all the fields. "Ukraine has got significant potential in the field of armament and is supplying it on a legitimate basis. Why not supplying it to Georgia, with which we have got good relationship?" - Baramidze remarked.
"Without going into details that are still being discussed by our military administrations, I can say that we intend to buy arms from Ukraine despite the competition on the part of other supplying countries", - Georgian state minister added.
He said that arms may be supplied to Georgia even despite Russia' objections. "According to international law, the trade with our country is unrestricted", - Baramidze said.
Let us remind you that Deputy of the Russian Federation State Duma Konstantin Zatulin has stated that Russian side is dissatisfied with some of the Ukrainian officials' plans to enhance cooperation with Georgian in the military field.
Russian parliamentarian paid special attention to the meeting between heads of Ministries of Defense of Georgia and Ukraine Bacho Akhalaya and Mikhail Ezhel, where they discussed the issues of reforming both countries' Armed Forces, as well as the improvement and operation of the governing structures. Also, Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated that several dozens of Ukrainian servicemen will undergo infantry and mountain training in the territory of Georgia.
"It sickens us here in Russia when some Ukrainian representative, for instance, Minister of Defense Mikhail Ezhel, hurriedly tells about the necessity of military cooperation with Georgia, and the plans of sharing the Georgian mountain war experience with Ukrainian servicemen. We can tell him about the mountain war experience of 2008 and about the experience that Georgia has got on the matter, which is quite obvious, I think", - Zatulin declared.
Besides, he expressed assuredness that the words of the head of Ukrainian military administration won't mar Moscow and Kiev's diplomatic relationship.
