14440.jpegA painting has been stolen from the local history museum in Tskhinval; the museum is sealed. However, according to GHN, the incident caused the museum workers' great surprise. It turned out that the painting called "The Execution of 13 Communists" had disappeared before 2005. According to museum director Vladimir Hamikayev, the local history museum was sealed as soon as the painting by a prominent painter Makharbek Tuganov disappeared. The loss of the painting was discovered when one of the compilers of an album dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Tuganov came to the museum to copy the painting. "At the beginning of 2005 when I started working in the museum, one of Tuganov's paintings called "The Execution of 13 Communists" that I failed to see had been lost. No one knows where it is now. I made attempts to find the painting but in vain", - Hamikayev told.

According to one of the former museum workers, the paintings were taken to Vladikavkaz in 2001 and one of them was too big to be put into the vehicle. "The Execution of 13 Communists" was a huge painting - 2 by 2,5 meters and the fact that M. Tuganov's masterpiece was kept in the museum after the 1991-1992 war has been confirmed", - she told.
