Georgia to build 17 new hydroelectric stations before 2015

14663.jpegGeorgia is going to build about 17 new hydroelectric stations before 2015. As reported by Novosti Georgia with reference to the country's Ministry of Energy, about 1700 billion will be invested into the project within four years. In particular, there will be built NamakhvaniGES (450 MW), AlpanaGES and SadmeliGES (170 MW) cascades, HramiGES (120 MW), NenskraGES (240 MW) and DaryalGES cascades (68 MW).


The construction of two hydroelectric stations will start in the village of Shilda of Kvarelsky region in East Georgia this October. 8 million dollars will be invested in the construction of Shilda-1 and Shilda-2 GESs. Minimum capacity of both GESs will be 10 MW. The project is planned to be completed within three years.
