Georgian Labourites appealed to NATO

Georgian Labour Party sent an application to NATO with a number of initiatives on improving electoral environment in the country. At today's press-conference, the journalists were familiarized with the appeal by International Secretary of Labour Party Nestan Kirtadze, GHN reports. "Today Georgian Labour Party, which is sure that Georgia needs a change of power and that the powers stolen by the single-party regime must be returned to the people, appeals with a special statements to NATO ministerial in Berlin and the session of the NATO-Georgia commission held in the context of the ministerial underlining that Georgian authorities won't be changed by way of elections if several principles are not legalized", - Kirtadze stated.


According to her, there are six basic principles necessary to hold just elections in Georgia. These are, notably, the obligatory participation of all citizens in the elections, abolishment of the majority election system; electoral committee should consist of the parties on parity basis, the 50-percent barrier should be reestablished, appeals should be considered by a commission comprising representatives of international organizations and a number of others.
