Indians to build Hudoni hydropower unit
According to the information revealed today by Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri at the meeting of the Georgian government, the construction of Hudoni hydropower unit is to be started soon. As the prime minister said, it will be realized by the specialists of the Continental Energy Indian company, Novosti Georgia reports. "This company has conducted a technical analysis of the profitability of the Hudoni unit construction. The procedure was completed several days ago and the company concluded that the construction of the hydropower unit is a beneficial undertaking", - Gilauri stated.
The prime minister underlined that the Indian company agreed to build Hudoni unit "having all the difficulties in mind". "This, of course, primarily concerns attracting investments", - he added.
Hudoni station is expected to produce about 650 megawatt of electric energy, which requires about one billion dollars of investments. "That's the most costly project in the energy field", - Gilauri summed up.
Let us remind you that the construction of Hudoni hydroelectric power station was started in 1985 but it was suspended because of the doubts of a number of experts as to its ecological safety.
