Bakradze: term of work on Electoral Code depends on the opposition
In the opinion of the head of the Georgian parliament David Bakradze, the final term of work over the new Electoral Code of the country depends on the opposition. As was reported by Novosti Georgia, this was told today by Bakradze at a meeting with journalists.
"It's hard to forecast when the oppositional parties taking part in these negotiations will agree on their positions. The finishing term of the work over the new Electoral Code depends only on the parties engaged in the process", - Bakradze stated. He also expressed hope that an agreement will be reached in the nearest time.
Representatives of the parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition prepared draft amendments to the Electoral Code in autumn 2010.
Joint work on developing the draft Electoral Code was done by the oppositional parties - National Forum, The New Rights, Georgia's Way, Christian-Democratic Movement, Our Georgia - Free Democrats, Conservative Party, Republican Party and The People's Party.
