Georgian forests may be sold to foreigners
Georgian authorities are going to grant Georgian forests to foreigners for 49 years. As was reported by Business Georgia, such information was voiced today at a briefing for journalists by Secretary General of the Labour Party Iosiph Shatberashvili.
According to him, next week the Parliament will discuss a corresponding draft law. "It should be noted that so far, the license on using forests has been issued only to the citizens of Georgia for 20 years. According to the new draft law, conditions have changed. Accordingly, we are calling on parliamentarians not to support the draft law on granting Georgian forests to foreigners", - Shatberashvili stated.
He added that in case the draft law is passed, his party will call on the citizens to protect the country's forest sector.
