Popular Assembly Prepares Protest Actions
Some mass protest actions are planned in Tbilisi and Batumi for the forthcoming three weeks, - informs the Caucasus Echo.
The Popular Assembly under the leadership of Nino Burdjanadze will be the organizer of these.
The protest actions are planned to start on 21 May and will continue till "the protesters hear the news on Mikhail Saakashvili's retirement".
"In democratic societies governments are changed through elections. But the human history and the latest events that took place in the world confirm that autocrats and dictators do not conduct any elections and do not give up the power of their own accord", - declared Nonna Gaprindashvily, one of the leaders of the Popular Assembly.
The opposition campaign is very much alike those organized in Egypt and Tunisia.
"I would not like to make any comparisons. Each country has its own specific character. We hope that everything will be peaceful in Georgia and that the process will be stable and painless as opposed to Arabian countries", - declared Nino Burdjanadze in this connection.
