Saakashvili: Georgian Police Became Subject For Imitation
The police reform is a progenitress of all Georgian reforms. According to the GHN, the leader of the state Mikhail Saakashvili made such statement today while speaking in Batumi at the parade devoted to the Police Day which is celebrated today in the country.
"The population welcomes these reforms which have saved the country from corruption", emphasized the President. "It may be said without exaggeration that the Georgian police has become a subject for imitation all over the world", believes Saakashvili.
"Because the Georgian police is not a myth any more, this is reality, because for all these years Georgia has managed to create something virtually impossible, - a strong state in the post-Soviet space - this is your merit. The police reform is our very first reform, the progenitress of all other reforms, the main reform of our reincarnation and our creation", emphasized Saakashvili addressing the law enforcement officials who gathered at the parade.
In his words, the difference between the current police and the former militia is not only in uniforms, cars and salaries. "The main difference is that the former police was corrupted and this one is fully free from corruption", stressed Saakashvili.
