Dmitry Medvedev Congratulated South Ossetia with Victory Day
The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sent his South-Ossetian colleague Edward Kokoity a letter of congratulations with the 66th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
"In their fight against fascist invaders our fathers and grandfathers defended the freedom and independence of their Patria shoulder to shoulder, saved Europe from enslavement. Our duty is to cherish the memory of their great deed, educating our young generation to the sense of patriotism and pride for the heroic pages of our common history", runs the letter, according to the "OSInform" IA.
The leader of the Russian state expressed his confidence that the peoples of the Russian Federation and of the South Ossetian Republic do not forget the "glorious traditions of freedom and mutual support". "The close co-operation between Russia and South Ossetia will continue being an important factor of safety and stability in Transcaucasia, will contribute to the economic and social development of the region", noted Dmitry Medvedev.
"On this solemn day please give my regards and appreciation to the South-Ossetian veterans and let me wish them peace, good health and well-being", he added.
It should be noted that earlier Dmitry Medvedev had also given his congratulations with the Victory Day to the people of Abkhazia.
