Yakobashvili: US Senate Prepared Resolution on Georgia
According to the information disclosed today by the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Georgia in the USA Temur Yakobashvili, the American Senate is preparing a resolution to support Georgia. This document will create a reliable basis for the future of Sakartvelo, stated the ambassador.
As the Georgia News report with reference to the Imedi TV company, some representatives of Democrats and Republicans prepared a resolution on Georgia and it is ready to be submitted to the US Senate. This document contains an appeal to Russia to withdraw its troops from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The resolution initiators are the Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and the Republican Lindsey Graham.
"Such documents not only reinforce our positions but create quite a serious basis for a whole series of actions aimed at ending the occupation of the Georgian territories sooner or later", said Yakobashvili in his interview to journalists.
As expected, after its consideration by some committees, by the end of May the resolution draft will be submitted to the US Senate.
