Ropeways in Svaneti to Be Built By the French
In Svaneti the specialists of the French company "Poma" will build some modern ropeways. According to the Business Georgia, some representatives of the company have already viewed the Khatsvali, Ushguli and Tetnuld mountains and have started studying the relief. In spite of the field difficulties, the natural landscape should be preserved, they think.
In total it is planned to build six ropeways in Svaneti before 2012. In the words of the region governor Zaza Gorozia, the project target is the development of tourism in Georgia and the attraction of some new investments into the country.
In the words of the Head of the Georgian Ministry of Finance Kakha Baindurashvili, this region also needs some new roads to be constructed, the power and water supply issues to be resolved, some hotels to be built.
