Russian and Abkhaz sides noted the anxiety of the personnel of the resort with previous decree of the Russian Defense Ministry about their dismissal in connection with the forthcoming overhaul of the resort.
It was decided to convene a meeting of experts to provide additional agreements required for proper functioning of resort facilities, earlier transferred to the use of the Russian military base.
In the middle of May 2011 members of the Russian military sanatorium «Sukhum» addressed to the Parliament of Abkhazia with the request to deal with the situation on the closure of the sanatorium for the repair. The Parliament recommended the staff to send a note to the leadership of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Protection of the employees of Russian military sanatorium «Sukhum».
Earlier, in mid-April 2011, Russian Defense Minister has issued a decree «On the termination of the branch of the federal budgetary institutions «resort complex» «Southern» of Russian Defense Ministry», according to which the branch of the Military sanatorium «Sukhum» should be terminated and its employees should be dismiss.
The staff of «Sukhum» - it is about three thousand people - are concerned that they may lose work due to the possibility of closure and sale of a large spa facility.
