Tsotne Gamsakhurdia started a new hunger strike
The son of the first Georgian president Zviad Gamsakhurdia - Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, who is currently serving his sentence on charges of attempting to commit premeditated murder, announced today about the beginning of a new hunger strike. According to the "Georgia-News", this information was released to reporters by counsel of Gamsakhurdia - Kathy Bekauri.
After the leadership of medical facilities for prisoners refused to receive from relatives of Gamsakhurdia the parcel with necessary medicines, the current hunger strike was announced.
"Medical staff did not let family members of Tsotne to give him the medicines. The administration explained, that a medical appointment does not include these drugs. After that Tsotne expressed protest and said that he started a new hunger strike" - the lawyer said. She added that in addition, she was not allowed to speak with her client, and they brought her out of the building.
In 2010, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia has declared a long hunger strike, demanding protection of the rights of prisoners. According to him, he has been under pressure.
