The Club of former wives of parliamentarians claim a protest to the U.S. Ambassador
The rally, organized by the Club of former wives of parliamentarians took place near the U.S. embassy the previous evening in the Georgian capital. This action was a response to the statement of the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, which he made a couple of hours before the law enforcement bodies dispersed the rally of the "National Assembly" on May 26.
In that statement in an interview with television channel "Rustavi-2", John Bass expressed his concern about a possibility of violent acts by the opposition. "It is necessary that such statements do not create problems to the free movement of other citizens and do not interfere with the celebration of significant for the state days " - said John Bass.
According to a representative of the Club, member of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia in exile, ex-deputy of the Georgian Parliament Ada Marshania, this statement by the American diplomat indirectly contributed the use of force against protesters.
"We consider these statements, made by diplomats, unacceptable. We demand the U.S. administration to evaluate the application of John Bass and the very fact of dispersal of the rally objectively " - noted Marshania at the rally. She added that the Club intends to send an official letter about the statement of Bass to the U.S. Embassy.
