Relations of Abkhazia and Georgia become more complicated
According to the Georgian conflict expert, Gogi Khutsishvili, relations between Georgia and Abkhazia will not only become harder, but even become more complicated, no matter who is elected president of Abkhazia - Sergey Shamba or Alexander Ankvab.
"I think that after the death of Sergei Bagapsh and electing of a new leader, the situation will change only in Abkhazia, but everything will depend on who wins the presidential election. It is supposed that the election of a new leader will not affect the relations of Abkhazia and Georgia at any rate. On the contrary, if the president becomes Ankvab or Shamba, I think that relations of two countries will become even more complicated. With this, do not forget the position of official Tbilisi, which does not recognize Abkhazia as a sovereign country, and considers it a puppet of Russia" - quotes the "GHN" words Khutsishvili.
"Both candidates - Shamba and Ankvab - are more conservatives within the country than Bagapsh. Although at the time, there was a misconception that Bagapsh will be harder to the authorities than his opponent at the elections - Khajimba. That is why the Abkhaz people gave him a preference, but as it turned out, the late leader of Abkhazia largely made concessions to Russia, and moreover, he criticized Khadjimba. I think whoever becomes the leader, they will display the position of Moscow " - concluded the expert .
