The U.S. Ambassador to Georgia demanded to investigate the dispersal of opposition
The U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass said that the crackdown of the opposition rally, that took place in Tbilisi in the night of 25 to 26 May, requires to be investigated.
"I'm really concerned about the reports that there are people whose fate remains unknown. It is necessary to conduct thorough investigations, which will establish the truth" - "PirWeli" quoted the words of the diplomat.
He also added that a thorough inspection of events which took place in front of the Parliament will contribute to increased confidence to the authorities of the Georgian population.
Recall, in the night of 25 to 26 May Georgian police dispersed the opposition rally in central Tbilisi. Two people were killed and dozens were injured.
At the same time, the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass supported the actions of the authorities of the republic during the dispersal of an opposition rally.
"The authorities have taken an important step when offered the protesters an alternative area in order to allow the holding of the parade" - the diplomat said, adding that he was concerned at reports that there has been abuse of power by police during certain incidents.
